Plaintain Spit Poultice

by Flowers in Hair
June 2nd, 2011

I had 4 tick bites this past weekend. A couple  pulled were nymphs, the tiny pin head ones, off before realizing what they were . The adult deer tick ( with the white dot on the back) on my back didn’t swell much. The tiny ones seem to give me large welts of infection. The last I pulled off I recalled the plaintain spit poultice, went and chewed some up and slapped it on( after removing and burning baby tick). That bite has the least itching and swelling. So the next night I went to the yard and chewed up some plaintain & put it on the 2 infected bites. Then I covered them with bandages to keep it on for awhile. The swelling has gone down immensely. Always try to remember this spit poultice for bites!

cold tincture

by Flowers in Hair
March 31st, 2011

I made this for a couple friends who often get colds. One has been trying it regularly and says it helps him. Woke up @ 4 am- didn’t bother to make tea or other drink to add it to, drank it straight.( a dropperful) Said wasn’t great tasting, but his glands didn’t feel swollen the next day. He has tried this twice and thanks me!

Used 1 cup echinacea, 2 tbspns Nettle, I cp Lemon balm, 1/2 tspn cayenne powder, Tsp thyme, 2 tbspn Dandelion root.  soaked in vodka about 2 months, strained and put in dropper bottles.
